[News] Professor Hyoungsuk Yoo Awarded Presidential Citation

Professor Hyoungsuk Yoo of Hanyang University and a participating faculty member of the Beyond-G Global Innovation Center was awarded the 2025 Presidential Citation for Science and Technology Advancement on April 21, 2025. The award recognizes his contributions to the development of next-generation implantable and wearable wireless medical devices, including mmWave bio-signal transmission, low-power wireless power transfer, miniaturized medical antennas, and AI-based diagnostic systems. These technologies are applied to pacemakers, capsule endoscopes, and brain disease monitoring devices and are actively advancing through clinical collaborations with hospitals.

Professor Yoo’s research has established new directions in precision medicine and positioned Korea as a global leader in wireless medical technology.

[센터소식] 한양대학교 유형석 교수, ‘2025년 과학기술진흥 유공 대통령 표창’ 수상

한양대학교 Beyond-G 글로벌 혁신센터 참여교수이자 IITP 전파연구센터장인 **유형석 교수(바이오메디컬공학과)**가 4월 21일, 한국 과학기술회관에서 열린 과학기술정보통신부 주최 ‘2025년 과학의 날 및 정보통신의 날’ 기념식에서 대통령 표창을 수상했다. 이번 수상은 차세대 인체 삽입형 및 착용형 무선 의료기기 기술 개발에 기여한 공로를 인정받은 것이다. 유형석 교수는 국내외에서 해당 분야를 선도하며 다양한 연구 성과를 창출해왔다. 특히 밀리미터파(mmWave) 기반 생체 신호 전송, 저전력 무선 전력 전송(WPT), 의료용 소형 안테나 설계, AI 기반 진단·제어 기술 융합 등 다양한 무선·의료 융합 기술을 통해 정밀 의료 분야에 새로운 방향을 제시하고 있다. 이 기술들은 심장 박동 조절기, 캡슐 내시경 모니터링 장치, 뇌 질환 모니터링 시스템 등 다양한 임플란트 및 웨어러블 디바이스에 적용되고 있으며, 실제 임상 활용을 위한 병원 협력 연구도 활발히 진행되고 있다.
