Three Beyond-G Global Innovation Center Research Teams Win Awards at KIEES Student Paper Competition

Three research teams from Hanyang University’s Beyond-G Global Innovation Center, led by Professors Sun-Woo Kim, Hyung-Suk Yoo, and Ick-Hyun Song, achieved outstanding results at the 24th Student Paper Competition in the Field of Radio Science, hosted by the Korea Communications Agency (KCA) and organized by the Korean Institute of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science (KIEES). Supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the nationwide competition recognizes innovative research by undergraduate and graduate students in radio science, communications, antennas, and electromagnetic applications.

Professor Sun-Woo Kim’s group awarded the Grand Prize (Best Paper Award) for research on a wide-angle beam-steering phased-array antenna. Professor Hyung-Suk Yoo’s group won the Excellent Paper Award for a machine-learning-assisted localization and tracking study, while ProfessorIck-Hyun Song’s group received the Encouragement Award for developing a performance degradation model for SiGe low-noise amplifiers under RF stress.

These awards highlight the Beyond-G Global Innovation Center’s research excellence in 6G, AI, radio-wave applications, and wireless communications. The award ceremony was held on November 21, 2025, at the KIEES Annual General Meeting in Seoul.

Beyond-G 글로벌 혁신센터 참여 연구실 3팀, 제24회 전파분야 대학(원)생 논문 공모에서 우수 성과 달성

한양대학교 Beyond-G 글로벌 혁신센터(Beyond-G Global Innovation Center) 소속 연구실 3팀(김선우, 유형석, 송익현 교수)이 한국전자파학회(KIEES)가 주관하고 한국방송통신전파진흥원(KCA)이 주최한 「제24회 전파분야 대학(원)생 논문공모전」에서 우수한 성과를 거두었다.

본 공모전은 과학기술정보통신부 후원 행사로, 전파·통신·안테나·전자파응용 등 다양한 분야의 대학(원)생 연구자들이 참가하여 창의적이고 우수한 연구 성과를 겨루는 전국 규모의 학술 공모전이다.

1. 김선우 교수 연구실

- 논문명 : 감쇄모드 SIW 기반 광각 빔조향 동일편파 방사체 공유형 위상배열 안테나 (학회장상[최우수상] / 최준모,김선우)

2. 유형석 교수 연구실

- 논문명 : RSS-based Machine-Learning-assisted Localization and Tracking of a Wireless Capsule Endoscope (학회장상[우수상] / Ali Ahsan Hasnain, 유형석)

3. 송익현 교수 연구실

- 논문명 : RF 스트레스에 의한 SiGe 저잡음 증폭기의 성능 열화 모델 개발 (장려상 / 강규범, 김태영, 송익현)

이번 수상은 Beyond-G 글로벌 혁신센터가 추진 중인 6G, AI, 전파응용, 무선통신 융합 연구의 우수성과 연구진의 역량을 입증하는 성과로, 참여 연구자들의 기술적 성취와 창의적 연구 노력이 높이 평가되었다. Beyond-G 글로벌 혁신센터는 “센터 참여 연구실의 성과가 전국 규모의 공모전에서 잇따라 인정받고 있어 매우 뜻깊다”며, “앞으로도 차세대 통신 및 전파 분야의 혁신 연구를 지속적으로 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.
