[NEWS] Beyond-G Global Innovation Center Holds “from O-RAN to AI-RAN” Workshop with Taiwan Tech
Hanyang University’s Beyond-G Global Innovation Center successfully held the three-day workshop “from O-RAN to AI-RAN: Practical 6G RAN Experimentation” from June 22 to 24, 2026, in Conference Room 901 of the ITBT Building on Hanyang University's Seoul campus.
Organized in collaboration with the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech, NTUST), the workshop brought together 50 students across two learning tracks: 28 students in the Beginner Track and 22 students in the Advanced Track.
The program introduced participants to mobile network fundamentals, O-RAN concepts, software-based RAN experimentation, and AI-RAN and 6G research directions. Beginner Track sessions focused on foundational RAN concepts, while Advanced Track sessions covered O-RAN architecture, RIC platforms, xApps, KPM-based monitoring, and hands-on software-based RAN experimentation.
Through lectures, guided labs, and demonstrations, students explored how open and programmable RAN systems can contribute to the development of future AI-native wireless networks. The workshop also strengthened educational and research collaboration between the Beyond-G Global Innovation Center and Taiwan Tech in O-RAN, AI-RAN, digital twins, and 6G experimentation.
The workshop was organized as part of the Innovation Research Center (IRC) Program supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea. Hanyang University’s Beyond-G Global Innovation Center plans to continue expanding hands-on education programs in AI-native next-generation wireless communication systems and promoting international education and research collaboration with overseas universities, including Taiwan Tech.

한양대학교 Beyond-G 글로벌 혁신센터는 2026년 6월 22일부터 24일까지 한양대학교 ITBT 901호 컨퍼런스룸에서 3일간 “from O-RAN to AI-RAN: Practical 6G RAN Experimentation” 워크숍을 성공적으로 개최했다.
이번 워크숍은 국립대만과학기술대학교(Taiwan Tech, NTUST)와의 협력으로 진행되었으며, 총 50명의 학생이 참여했다. 참가 학생들은 Beginner Track 28명과 Advanced Track 22명으로 나뉘어 수준별 교육을 받았다.
프로그램은 이동통신 네트워크 기초, O-RAN 개념, 소프트웨어 기반 RAN 실험, AI-RAN 및 6G 연구 방향을 단계적으로 다루었다. Beginner Track에서는 RAN의 기본 개념을 중심으로 학습했으며, Advanced Track에서는 O-RAN 아키텍처, RIC 플랫폼, xApp, KPM 기반 모니터링, 소프트웨어 RAN 실험을 심화 학습했다.
참가자들은 강의, 실습, 시연을 통해 개방형·프로그래머블 RAN 시스템이 미래 AI-native 무선 네트워크 구현에 어떻게 기여할 수 있는지 살펴보았다. 이번 워크숍은 O-RAN, AI-RAN, 디지털 트윈, 6G 실험 분야에서 Beyond-G 글로벌 혁신센터와 Taiwan Tech 간 교육 및 연구 협력을 강화하는 계기가 되었다.
이번 워크숍은 과학기술정보통신부와 한국연구재단이 지원하는 혁신연구센터(IRC, Innovation Research Center) 사업의 일환으로 추진되었다. 한양대학교 Beyond-G 글로벌 혁신센터는 앞으로도 AI-native 차세대 무선통신 시스템 분야의 실습 중심 교육 프로그램을 확대하고, Taiwan Tech를 비롯한 해외 대학과의 국제 교육·연구 협력을 지속적으로 추진할 계획이다.
