[NEWS] Beyond-G Global Innovation Center Holds Advisory Committee Meetings with Korea’s Three Major Telecom Companies to Discuss 6G and AI Future Roadmap

Hanyang University’s Beyond-G Global Innovation Center (Director Sunwoo Kim) carries out the Innovation Research Center (IRC) Program, supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea. from July 27 to 31, 2026, the Center held advisory committee meetings with senior technology executives from Korea’s three major mobile carriers—KT, SK Telecom (SKT), and LG U+. The meetings were held at each company’s headquarters, with KT Senior Vice Presidents Je-Min Jeong and Won-Yeol Lee, SKT Vice President Tak-Ki Ryu, and LG U+ Executive Vice President and CTO Sang-Yeop Lee in attendance. They discussed the Center’s research direction and future roadmap for 6G- and AI-based communications.

The meetings highlighted the convergence of AI and communications technology as a key direction for the 6G era. KT emphasized network digital twins and Open-RAN demonstrations, while SKT highlighted user-perceived quality metrics, practical applications of ISAC, and the importance of foundational communications technologies such as next-generation OFDM. LG U+ shared its focus on AI-RAN-based autonomous network operations, Korea-specific 6G KPIs, and distributed computing and computation optimization between devices and base stations. The discussions also covered key technologies and research areas for next-generation communications, including AI-RAN, Physical AI, Open-RAN, RAN Twin, ISAC, and distributed computing.

The Beyond-G Global Innovation Center plans to incorporate the industry perspectives shared during the advisory committee meetings into its research plan for 6G and AI-based next-generation communications. The Center will hold the “Beyond-G Global Innovation Center Research Outcomes Sharing Event” in Hongcheon on September 11–12, 2026, where advisory committee members and stakeholders from industry, academia, and research institutions will share research outcomes and continue technical exchanges.

[NEWS] Beyond-G 글로벌 혁신센터, 통신 3사 자문위원 간담회 개최… 6G·AI 미래 로드맵 논의

한양대학교 Beyond-G 글로벌 혁신센터(센터장 김선우)는 과학기술정보통신부와 한국연구재단이 지원하는 혁신연구센터(IRC) 사업을 수행하고 있다. 혁신센터는 2026년 7월 27일부터 31일까지 국내 이동통신 3사인 KT, SK텔레콤(SKT), LG유플러스의 주요 기술 임원들과 자문위원 간담회를 개최했다. 이번 간담회는 각 사 사옥에서 진행됐으며, KT 정제민·이원열 상무, SKT 류탁기 부사장, LG유플러스 이상엽 전무 겸 CTO가 참석했다. 참석자들은 혁신센터의 연구 방향과 6G·AI 기반 차세대 통신 기술의 미래 로드맵을 논의했다.

이번 간담회에서는 6G 시대의 핵심 방향으로 AI와 통신 기술의 융합이 강조됐다. KT는 네트워크 디지털 트윈과 Open-RAN 실증을 강조했으며, SKT는 사용자 체감 품질 지표, ISAC의 실용적 활용, 차세대 OFDM 등 기초 통신 기술의 중요성을 제시했다. LG유플러스는 AI-RAN 기반 자율 네트워크 운영, 한국형 6G KPI, 단말과 기지국 간 분산 컴퓨팅 및 연산 최적화 연구 방향을 공유했다. 이와 함께 AI-RAN, Physical AI, Open-RAN, RAN Twin, ISAC, 분산 컴퓨팅 등 차세대 통신 분야의 주요 기술과 연구 과제에 대한 논의도 이어졌다.

Beyond-G 글로벌 혁신센터는 이번 자문위원 간담회에서 제시된 산업계의 의견을 6G·AI 기반 차세대 통신 연구 계획에 반영할 예정이다. 또한 9월 11일부터 12일까지 홍천에서 ‘Beyond-G 글로벌 혁신센터 성과공유회’를 개최하고, 3사 자문위원 및 산·학·연 관계자들과 연구 성과를 공유하며 지속적인 기술 교류를 이어갈 계획이다.
